Priority Fees (Gas)
Priority fees determine how fast your transaction gets processed on Solana.
What Are Priority Fees?
Priority fees are extra SOL you pay to validators to prioritize your transaction.
How Solana Works
You submit a transaction
Validators include it in a block
Higher priority fee = validators pick yours first
Transaction confirms
Why Priority Fees Matter
Speed - Faster execution in busy times
Competition - Beat other traders to buys
Reliability - Less likely to fail
Priority Fee Settings
Default
0.005 SOL (~$1) - Good for normal trading
How to Change
Telegram Bot:
On buy/sell screen, click ⛽ Gas
Enter new amount in SOL
Applies to that trade
Or use command:
Web Terminal:
Open Settings

When to Increase Priority Fee
Network Congestion
Signs of congestion:
Transactions pending longer than usual
Multiple failed transactions
High activity period (new launches, announcements)
Solution: Increase to 0.01-0.02 SOL
Sniping New Tokens
When buying new launches:
Everyone is trying to buy at once
Higher fee = earlier execution
Earlier execution = better price
Recommended: 0.03-0.05 SOL for snipes
Urgent Sells
When you need to exit NOW:
Token dumping fast
Taking profits at peak
Avoiding further losses
Recommended: 0.02+ SOL
When to Use Lower Fees
Calm Markets
When there's low activity:
0.003-0.005 SOL is enough
Save money on fees
Transactions still fast
Non-Urgent Trades
If timing doesn't matter:
Use default 0.005 SOL
No need to overpay
Testing/Small Trades
For tiny positions:
High fee relative to trade size doesn't make sense
Use minimum viable fee
Priority Fee vs Transaction Fee
Base Fee
~0.000005 SOL
Required network fee
Priority Fee
Variable
Optional speed boost
You always pay both. Priority fee is what you control.

Key insight: High fees matter less for larger trades.
When High Fees Are Worth It
Sniping where early entry = massive gains
Selling before a dump
Time-sensitive arbitrage
When High Fees Aren't Worth It
Small test trades
Non-urgent positions
Low-volatility tokens
Priority Fee Strategy
For Buying
Normal buy: 0.005 SOL
New launch: 0.02-0.05 SOL
Hot token (fast-moving): 0.01-0.02 SOL
For Selling
Taking profits (not urgent): 0.005 SOL
Selling during pump: 0.01-0.02 SOL
Panic sell: 0.02-0.05 SOL
For Sniping
Professional snipers use:
0.05-0.1 SOL priority fees
Combined with high slippage
Accept high costs for early entry
Common Questions
"My transaction is stuck"
Increase priority fee and retry:
If pending, wait or retry with higher fee
Solana transactions don't "get stuck" like Ethereum
They either confirm or expire
"I used high fee but still failed"
Priority fee helps speed, not success:
Slippage might be the issue
Token might have problems
Try increasing slippage too
"What's the maximum fee?"
No hard limit, but practical max:
0.1 SOL is very high
Anything more is rarely needed
Diminishing returns above 0.05 SOL
Network Status
Solana priority fees are dynamic based on demand.
Checking Network Status
High TPS (transactions per second) = busier network
Validator health affects processing
Major events increase congestion
Typical Network Conditions
Normal
0.003-0.005 SOL
Moderate load
0.005-0.01 SOL
High load
0.01-0.02 SOL
Extreme (launches)
0.02-0.1 SOL
